Launched by Art Stations Foundation, the FOCUS Festival is a format of a series of artistic events promoting and presenting (often for the first time in Poland) the work of artists of different fields, coming from one European country, city or language area. In January 2010, the festival wants to focus on the presentation of achievements of Swiss artists. The curator of the event – Joanna Lesnierowska collaborates already since many years with Swiss artists and thus she wished to invite not only those of them who are already known in Poland and whose artistic development is enthusiastically followed by the Polish audience, such as Gilles Jobin (dance) or The Young Gods (music), but also those accomplished artists who have never visited our country, such as Maria La Ribot (the Laughing Hole performance combined with an exhibition – installation) and the choreographer Marco Berettini.
The Polish audience will also see a musical and theatrical act from the MINIMETAL collective from Geneva.
A particularly important feature of Focus Switzerland is workshops for young choreographers from the countries of the Eastern Europe countries (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), lead by Jobin and La Ribot.
